I'm beginning to put the Paul McKenna 'wishful thinking' into practice, whereby if I constantly think about how much I want this dress...
for my Graduation Ball for the next month, then hopefully the 100 pound note I require for it, will appear in my lap ASAP.
Never in my life have I been so in love with a garment (But if you are listening God... not the shoes)
I wish... I wish... I wish... <3

Doin' it for the girls...
I read a fashion piece yesterday, which when summarised, pretty much said that women either dress to please the eyes of men or women. I don't mean in a lesbiany sense either. Take for example.... SJP
A style icon... to women! But Men just think she's slightly bizarre. And the likes of Alexa Chung also conform to quirky vintage fashion. Whereas women like... Jordan
definitely dress to tantalize the eyes of the stag!
Personally I prefer to dress in a way that re-enforces my inner 'girl-power', I genuinely feel more satisfied by a female compliment as it's not likely to be generated by the amount of breast/leg/ass they can see!
So big up the funky jumpsuits, Sherlock capes and slouchy Ugg boots!

It's a small small world...
...after all....
I was just bowled over as the significance of the ever-loved Facebook in today's society, was put into perspective for me!
I check my Hotmail daily, and due to the copious amounts of spam, mostly from the previously mentioned social networking sight, I usually highlight the lot and hit the delete button. But this morning an email from a woman headed 'what a coincidence' caught my eye.
Bizarrely enough, she had obtained my email through Facebook after finding my mum and uncle on there, who she knew when she was in school. My mum was best friends with her sister, and she had noticed on my profile that it said I was studying journalism.
She happens to be a Journalism Lecturer at the Queensland University of Technology in Brisbane, Australia ! And was a broadcast journalist for over 20 years both there and in the UK.
It just goes to show the efficiency of Facebook, and how that we would never of obtained contact with this person without it. Although the site poses many flaws in relation to bullying, crime, and relationships ... it is actually a revolutionary attribute to our generation!!

Loving...
Chris Moyles & Dave Vitty 's efforts for Comic Relief 2011 with the Longest Show Ever!
I've just woken up and started listening to them online, and they have already been airing for almost 28 hours and raised an amazing £485,084!
I know that I'd be one Moody Meg if I had been awake that long, let alone non-stop waffling to the nation!
I think Chris is a brilliant radio presenter and have massive respect for the huge following he has acquired through the years! Definitely not biased from the 'fit' comment he made when I met him... haha!

SNUGS!
But I do admire they Radio One team for their passion to raise so much money, and I'll definitely be chucking a few of my valuable student pounds into Comic Relief, whether it be online or into a bucket in Asda. And I urge you all to do the same!
After watching the documentary "Famous Rich and in the Slums" on BBC 1 the other day and witnessing Lenny Henry, who has visited Africa numerous times before, get so emotionally involved with what poverty does to people's lives out there, it hit me how worth while this cause is.
Whether it's sacrificing your daily cigarettes or not putting the lottery on this week, I think everyone could find something to give.

FAG OFF!
Ludicrousy. Is the only word I can use to describe the new laws about banning cigarette displays in shops.
If you're unsure about what I am referring to Click Here
If for one second these morons think that people's urge to smoke will be discouraged because they can't physically 'see' the packet of cigarettes then they need checking into a psychiatric ward.
Let people smoke. The government put us through numerous spending cuts, credit crunches, tax increases and then expect people to give up their only stress release in life. If only Mr. Orwell was around to witness his predications coming true.
My nan gets my grandad to go and buy her cigarettes, so she doesn't even witness the displays anyway. Has she given up? NO. Will she ever? NO.

Can't wait for....
This time next week.
Why?
Because I can put down my dissertation for the night and live like Amy Winehouse. Literally. Maybe without the crack & smack.
Oh Yes my fellow bloggers. Next Thursday my housemates and I will be celebrating 21 years of Miss Danielle Cook...
And in true student-style, we will all be dressing as (fucked up) celebrities. I already have my wig...
And Amy has her costume...
(YES SHE IS GOING TO FREEZE)
I'll upload y'all a photo from it. Love x
'Fighting' my way to a good documentary
Things are looking up.
Met Mark at a gym in Crewe yesterday. He was 20 minutes late, but it gave me a chance to chillax and drink some weak nasty tea. It was a more brief meeting than I first anticipated, but I appear to have a sieve-like brain where I just forget everything I need to say. Especially when there's a huge muscly boxer sat opposite me.
Outcome - have arranged two meetings to film with him. One being in a school which he does his kickstart programme in (hopefully, just got to get the go-ahead from the teacher). Pretty happy about this because it was the story angle which the commissioners were more keen on. And the other at his own boxing club where I can get his personal interview as well.
Still unsure whether I talk about his acting career as the commissioners weren't interested in it, but I think it's quite a quirky little fact to add.

Slightly intimidating...
Just found this YouTube clip of Mark Russell, let's hope I don't make him angry otherwise I could end up blonde mincemeat...
Here's a link to his website as well if you want to check him out...

Documentary Proposal
So I've just come out of my commissioning proposal with:
I went in completely nervous seeing as most other people are doing doc's centred on news stories such as cot death and homophobic attacks, but I have taken the profile route. The 3 commissioners were completely lovely but I'm still unsure on my own idea as I'm not entirely sure whether it's going to work in the way that I want it to.
This is Mark Russell...
He is 3 times heavyweight champion of the world in Thai boxing and has featured in award winning films. I met him on my work experience in Crewe as he was running a six week kickboxing program in schools around the area with children who are not keen in P.E. and struggle to focus. I thought this guy would make a really interesting documentary to understand his life story and how he came from a rough area in Manchester to being a world champion and now teaching children and helping them to focus.
The general feedback was to not focus it on him as a person, but to focus it on the children he is now helping, and the difference he is making in the community. I'm still slightly reserved in the sense of not actually knowing too much about what he does, and whether I'm going to get the access to the schools. But I do have a meeting with him tomorrow where I hope to find out more about what I can film and do with the project as I am slightly pushed for time as it is due in on 20th April.
I was happy that the commissioners said I had produced one of the best looking proposals. And although Sarah Murch said she had googled Mark Russell prior to the meeting and felt like she didn't really understand the essence of the story, she then completely changed her mind after hearing the passion I had about how he was making a difference with children, which is a big issue in society today, and youngsters are becoming more involved in the wrong sort of fighting i.e. guns, knives etc. Sol was keen for me to see the development in the children, and maybe get interviews with pupils who have really been changed by his programme.
The proposal has definitely given me food for thought, and I'll keep you updated after my meeting with Mark himself tomorrow.
- Sarah Murch, former head of ITV Granada documentaries, now of Blakeway TV, one of the biggest producers of factual programming in Britain
- Sol Papadopulos, head of Hurricane Films
- Camilla Affleck, journalist, experienced documentary maker and member of Liverpool Screen School staff

To all my sisters....
In special dedication to my Rugby girls, I would like to get all mushy with you guys and share the love that I have for these dear friends of mine!
This nice random scatter of photos just illustrates a smidgen of the good times I have had with these girls. On first joining Rugby High, I was worried I was going to become a lesbian and hate it because of it's one gender nature. But after bonding with Jocelyn (the most beautiful gingergirl woman in this world, inside and out) on the first day over our surname, I began to see it wasn't all so bad.
It saddens me now that we're all dispersed to different parts of the country, but I will always have massive love for this sisterhood, and they will all be at my wedding one day, some as bridesmaids maybe!
They know me so well, and months after not seeing each other, it never changes, and never will. I cherish you all dearly, and you will always make me laugh to tears. Not often will you find people who love you for who you are, and us lot really do. & not a day goes by when I don't smile at their photos on my wall.
I will take the mountain of memories I have acquired with this bunch forever, I could not have asked for a better school life. If I could be back in school tomorrow I would be. And I'm pretty sure it's not Mr.Hartley's latin lessons drawing me back. It's this lot. So wherever you are girls, whatever your doing, remember big love <3

ZUMBA-ing my way to a bikini body...
This was me today...
Me and Claire (my housemate) marched our wobbly bums down to Wavertree Lifestyle Centre in a bid to develop our hot new summer bodies! (I'm jetting off to Crete in June with Todd, and don't want to be put to shame when we strip off on the beach)
So we thought we'd try out the new faze that appears to have taken the nation by storm... ZUMBA! Amongst 120 other similar minded women, Claire and I shimmied and thrusted until we could shimmy and thrust no more! It was actually really fun, and didn't notice I was actually working up a sweat due to laughing hysterically at my lack of co-ordination skills! But we definitely will be going again, and I urge anyone else to try it, the moves are fun and the music is energetic. I left in a really positive mood, and hopefully in 3 months will look like this...
Next on the agenda is 'Legs Bums & Tums' and 'Spinning' ... I'll keep you posted with my progress!

Today was a proud day for myself and a number of fellow students on my TV module.
We were visited by the Broadcast Journalism Training Council in order to attain their creditation of our course. And we can now say that it was our work that won it!
At 9 o'clock this morning Joe and I set off on a 45 minute drive to Stockport to obtain the lead story of the day. We interviewed a woman who has just returned from the chaos in Libya. Originally from Zimbabwe, she was a primary school teacher in Libya for 2 years, and told us of the trauma she has experienced in the past couple of weeks in regards to Gaddafi's regime. Click Here to view the original story from the Liverpool Daily Post.
Joe and I were able to turn around the piece for a 3pm deadline, which we were really proud of as this is the sort of deadline journalists work to in the actual broadcast industry.
Other people's stories included a piece about the spending cuts on the emergency services (which I helped get some shots for) and a protest on the spending cuts in Liverpool, and the HMS in Liverpool.
As soon as the video is posted on the JMU journalism website I will post it on here for you all to view.
