I was just bowled over as the significance of the ever-loved Facebook in today's society, was put into perspective for me!
I check my Hotmail daily, and due to the copious amounts of spam, mostly from the previously mentioned social networking sight, I usually highlight the lot and hit the delete button. But this morning an email from a woman headed 'what a coincidence' caught my eye.
Bizarrely enough, she had obtained my email through Facebook after finding my mum and uncle on there, who she knew when she was in school. My mum was best friends with her sister, and she had noticed on my profile that it said I was studying journalism.
She happens to be a Journalism Lecturer at the Queensland University of Technology in Brisbane, Australia ! And was a broadcast journalist for over 20 years both there and in the UK.
It just goes to show the efficiency of Facebook, and how that we would never of obtained contact with this person without it. Although the site poses many flaws in relation to bullying, crime, and relationships ... it is actually a revolutionary attribute to our generation!!
